John Alexander Sloan (1839-1885) of Greensboro, NC, entered the University in 1856, became a member of the Dialectic Society, and graduated in 1859. An author, he published North Carolina in the War between the States (1883) and Reminiscences of the Guilford Grays, Co. B, 27th N. C. Regiment (1883).
